| Racist Missourians? | ||||||||
| Neo Confederates and Rebel flag waving racists, two phrases that have come to put me on the fight right quick. When you think about it though the first phrase is actually a compliment, although the people that use it don't realise the fact. If they want to call us New Confederates that's just fine. I hear tell some folks are calling us the "New Bushwhackers", so New Confederates fits to a tee. But you better get your facts straight before you call us racists. We have grown accustomed to politicians using such words, how could you expect anything less from puppets of the Federal government? What gets me is when we hear those same phrases from so called historians and "weekend Confederates." People who should know better but sadly are either ignorant or too spineless to stand by the truth. We have had many exchanges this year with such people, all of whom had dumbfounded expressions when the job of shooting down their lofty ideals was finished. The ignorant are one thing but Neo Cons, leftists and other trash have a hard time when confronted with facts. People are usually very surprised when they learn of the work we do in the Missouri League of the South. Our teaching and library programs benefit children and adults of all races. Money from our benevolent fund is given out according to a family's needs, not their skin color. We have helped fund the Christian fighters and civilians in Sudan for some time now. When we decided to start this work we did not look at the color of Sudenese skin, but at what they were fighting for. Liberty and freedom of religion sounds like what we contend for doesn't it? Sad indeed when a Southern Partisan group from Missouri has to fund a foreign people fighting for freedom while the US government and the UN would not lift a hand to help. Many are also surprised at some of our members and supporters who were born and raised in other countries. These people after moving here have embraced Christianity and the Constitutional foundation of this country. They are people who put many Americans to shame with their deep understanding and support of all this country was founded upon. The American Indians we know are some of the firmest Southern Patriots around. But then their ancestors were raked over the coals by the Federal government too, weren't they? As far as we are concerned, it is a person's ideology not their skin color that is the defining factor. Understand what I am saying here. If you cling to a culture or religion that wishes to destroy all we hold dear, don't think for one minute that we will coddle you for the sake of being all inclusive. If you support the original Constitution and all it stood for then you are a friend, if you do not no matter what color your skin, you are an enemy. We all know the reasons those in power label us and our symbols as racist, but many of the common citisens do not. That is why education has been one of our primary works and must continue no matter the cost. Show people the truth and let them decide, are we fanatical racists on the fringes of society, or are we people who know the truth of this country's history and are working to keep alive all our Founding Fathers fought and died to leave us? No, we are not racists but Patriots (not in the Neo Con sense either.) Therefore "those people"have to attempt to crucify us in the public's eye. They cannot stand up to the truth so their main tactic is to discredit all who speak and defend the truth. So be it. We have no intention of quitting this battle. And Dr. Hill is right, the time for us being nice is over. Governor Holden, Richard Gephardt and their blind followers are realising this. We will spend the next year driving the point home.
