| The Religious Right in America has gained a tremendous amount of political might in the last few years. Sadly though the leaders and membership of quite a number of these groups are ignorant when it comes to God's Law applied to their lives as citisens in a fallen world. This fact is being blatantly demonstrated in the travesty surrounding Judge Moore of Alabama, the "right's" blind support of President Bush (you know, the lesser of two evils) and their fear of standing beside any group denouncing America's shunning of the Constitution. It seems their favourite quotes are "Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's" and "The Rule Of Law." The Bible does tell us to honor governments. For example 1Peter 2:13,14 says, "Submit yourselves for the Lord's sake to every human institution, whether to a king as the one in authority, or to governors as sent by him for the punishment of evil doers and the praise of those who do right." Consider for a moment the last line of these verses, "for the punishment of evil doers and the praise of those who do right." Well that puts things in a different light, does it not? Our government has become so corrupt as to now call good evil and evil good. I can find nowhere that God tells us to turn our backs on His Law in favor of man's when man's law becomes corrupt. Quite the opposite, the Bible is full of stories concerning men and women defying those in power when their laws were against those of God. It can not be denied that this country's government has turned it's back on God's law. It is not my intention in this article to condemn the Religious Right. I want to convince each person who reads these words to reach out to them and show them the truth. We need to remind them why and by whom this country was founded. By using the words of God, the Pilgrims, the Colonials and Confederates it can and must be done. Many of us have said for years that "those people" would start with our heritage, then work on obliterating Christian and Constitutional heritage. Sadly, we were right. But the current political and cultural climate will make it easier for us to reach America's Christian community. Many on the Religious Right are quite dismayed at President Bush's inclusion of the Moslem faith at the expense of Christianity. The media and big business shunning all things Christian also has many asking "where has my country gone?" Now is the time for us to reach out to the churches and religious groups in our communities. Let them know the truth of our stand. Show them God's word and historical documents that verify all we believe. We are taught as Christians to believe God's Word and apply it to our lives. We can not blindly follow this corrupt government's dictates and still call ourselves God's people. How can we turn our backs on any public acknowledgement of God and embrace other cultures and religions that want nothing less than the complete annihilation of Christianity and Western culture and still consider ourselves Christian? We can not, we must not. It is time to join our banners in the fight to win back America, or at least a section thereof. For the Cause, Frank Carlton Missouri League of the South |
